HOW
To get there
Airports
There are two airports near the wedding location, each about a 1hr 15min drive away:

-
Guanajuato International Airport (BJX, also known as Leon or Bajio Airport)
-
Queretaro Intercontinental Airport (QRO)

For transportation to/from the airport, we recommend traveling by Taxi. There are stands inside each airport where you can pay a flat rate with cash or card.

Airports are considered safe locations to use ATMs or exchange currency, so consider pulling cash shortly after you land.

If you will be traveling to/from the airport after dark, Alexis and Rudy will arrange transport.
Tips and Advice for Flights

-
If you wish to fly via one of the legacy airlines (such as American, Delta, or United) from Chicago, you will have a layover in one of their hubs such as Dallas, Houston or Atlanta. Please plan accordingly.

-
If you prefer a non-stop flight from Chicago, the only options we are aware of are on two Mexican budget airlines: Volaris and Viva Aerobus. Airfare may be cheaper, but extra charges for things like selecting your seat or bringing larger carry-on items will apply.

-
We recommend booking your flight about 6 weeks in advance. As these are smaller airports, last minute discounts are not common.

-
For travelers with more time, you may consider flying in and out of Mexico City, which is about 3 to 6 hours away from the wedding location by bus. If you are interested in this, contact Alexis and Rudy and we can give you more information about this option.
Getting Around

-
Mexico does have Uber! You can use the same app you use in the United States. However, pick-ups in locations like airports and bus terminals are limited because the taxi unions have lobbied to ban them from these locations.

-
Transportation will be provided to/from the preferred hotel to the welcome dinner and the wedding venue, more details will be provided closer to the date.

-
We recommend that only experienced international drivers consider renting a car.
